近期多个欧洲国家的住院病人数激增，各国纷纷出台各种政策努力遏制情况再次恶化。
捷克宣布将实行为期三周的部分封锁，将关闭学校，酒吧和具乐部。捷克的新冠病毒确诊率飙升，成为欧洲每10万人感染率的最高国家，捷克政府将关闭餐馆，并禁止在公共场合中饮酒。
法国巴黎公立医院联盟负责人马丁·赫希说，巴黎的医院将有90％的重症监护床位被占满。全国许多热门景点可能会面临宵禁。诸多城市出台禁令，包括禁止所有节日和家庭聚会以及新生入学晚会；关闭所有酒吧；餐馆可正常营业，但须遵守新的、更严格的防疫规定；每晚10时后禁止在公共道路上卖酒和饮酒。
德国总理默克尔之前表示，目前情势仍然严重。德国大城市的“近七日平均每10万人新增确诊数”指标突破50人，就必须采取额外的防控措施，包括扩大口罩强制令适用范围、公共场合实施人际接触禁令、实施宵禁或限酒令、限制每场活动参与者人数等
英国政府宣布启动“三级制封锁”，新的三层系统将英格兰的每个区域都划分为中度、高度或最高度的封锁警戒状态。目前为止，利物浦是唯一受到最严格封锁限制的地区，不供餐的酒吧都要关闭。
捷克疫情从十月起激增，目前在商店和公共交通的车厢内都要戴上口罩，新的政策将要求在电车站和火车平台上也要佩戴口罩。 无论是在室内还是室外，一个团指标体中最多只能聚集6人。实行为期三周的部分封锁，将关闭学校，酒吧和具乐部。
荷兰宣布为期四周的部分封锁。封锁将导致酒吧，餐馆，露台和大麻咖啡馆从10月14日晚上起关闭，仅允许外卖服务。 夜间八点之后，杂货店被禁止销售酒精饮品。但是学校不会停课。 人们被要求在家中工作，公共交通工具只用于必要的移动。
