24日，在联合国总部举行《联合国海洋法公约》第30次缔约国会议，选举7名国际海洋法法庭法官。中国驻匈牙利大使段洁龙以149高票当选国际海洋法法庭法官。在首轮投票中，段洁龙以149票当选，其他当选法官分别是：戴维·阿塔尔德（马耳他），伊达·卡拉乔洛（意大利），玛丽亚·特雷莎·因方特·卡菲（智利），莫里斯·肯奈·卡姆加（喀麦隆），马尔基扬·库利克（乌克兰）。接替任期即将于今年9月30日结束的7名法官。
24日共选举出6名法官。25日将举行第二轮投票，剩余一名法官将从牙买加人凯茜·安·布朗和巴西人罗德里戈·费尔南德斯·莫雷中产生。新当选法官任期9年，自今年10月1日起履职。
国际海洋法法庭（ITLOS），是根据《联合国海洋法公约》建立的一个法律组织。始建于1996年，总部设在德国汉堡市，由21名独立法官组成。是专门审理海洋法案件的国际组织。现为联合国大会观察员组织。自法庭成立以来，先后在法庭任职的中国人有赵理海、许光建和高之国。
