“白色污染”的危害众人皆知，但日常生活中，廉价便捷的塑料袋依然大行其道。为了招揽顾客，农贸市场、小型超市的塑料袋仍以免费使用为主。而在塑料袋有偿使用的大型超市，大多数人不习惯自带购物袋，而是愿意花几毛钱买个方便。除此之外，各类餐饮店的一次性塑料吸管，塑料餐具，宾馆酒店一次性塑料用品、快递塑料包装等更是屡见不鲜。
1月16日，国家发展改革委、生态环境部发布了《关于进一步加强塑料污染治理的意见》，分2020年、2022年、2025年三个时间段，明确了加强塑料污染治理分阶段的任务目标。其中，最引发关注的是首先被点名的塑料吸管，明确规定：到2020年底，全国范围餐饮行业禁止使用不可降解一次性塑料吸管。
据统计，2019年全国塑料制品累计产量8184万吨，其中塑料吸管近30000吨，约合460亿根，人均使用量超过30根。业内专家表示，塑料吸管的使用时间只有几分钟，但降解的时间可能长达500年。
为扎实推进塑料污染治理工作，我国将开展联合专项行动。8月底前，各地将启动商场超市、集贸市场、餐饮行业等重点领域禁限塑推进情况专项执法检查。麦当劳中国近日宣布，北京、上海、广州、深圳近千家餐厅将率先停用塑料吸管。在北京市一家麦当劳餐厅，新款饮料包装已经上线。新款的杯盖上多了一个饮用口，类似于此前热饮的包装方式，打开上面的小盖可以直接饮用。
没有了塑料吸管很多人不习惯，也有很多的不方便，但适应也是一个过程，为了我们生存的环境，为了子孙后代，提高环保意识，减少一次性消费。
