据国防部网站发布消息称，9月21日13时40分，我国在酒泉卫星发射中心用长征四号乙运载火箭，成功将海洋二号C卫星送入预定轨道，发射获得圆满成功。
海洋二号C卫星是我国第三颗海洋动力环境卫星，也是空间基础设施海洋动力探测系列的第二颗业务星，将与2018年10月发射的海洋二号B卫星及后续规划发射的海洋二号D卫星组网运行，共同构成我国海洋动力环境监测网，实现对全球海面高度、有效波高、海面风场、海面温度的全天时全天候高精度观测，有效服务我国自然资源调查监管。
海洋二号C卫星、长征四号乙运载火箭由航天科技集团有限公司研制生产，自然资源部为该卫星工程牵头主用户部门。
这次任务是长征系列运载火箭的第347次发射。
